Text: This class is taught from selected sections of Numerical Renaissance,
with supplemental texts held on reserve at the library as announced in class.
Course description: Discrete time systems: sampling. aliasing, stability, Z-transform, discrete time signals, state space models; state equations, canonical forms, observability, controllability. Pole placement design, observer design, output feedback, linear quadratic regulator design. Implementation: digital approximation, computational and numerical issues.
Prerequisites: MAE143b or its equivalent.
